STORY BY Annie
CEO Annie Holden’s Travelling Beauty Essentials
I have been travelling non-stop since I have been 17!! and let me tell you in a couple of years I will have been travelling for half a century!!
I am a budget traveler through and through. But I have one weakness, which I easily justify as a “need” not a “want”, and that is for quality skin-care products when I am flying. There is nothing more aging, more distressing to the skin than long-haul flying and over the years I have tried just about every product on the market to find my perfect fit. Here’s are my top 5 favorites for you to try:
1. Kiehls’ Eye De-puffer
This is my all-time favorite on-board special. I don’t know how Kiehls’ does it but this balm actually glides on cold on to the skin. It is so soothing for sore eyes during a long flight. I’ve been using this product for years. I hope they never stop making it!
2. Estee Lauder Revitalising Mask
I’ve been using Estee Lauder products since my first pay cheque and the products continue to be consistently good. Skin hydrates at warped speed when flying, so slipping on a soothing moisturising mask while every one else is asleep is a great gift to myself. The tube is handy and will go through security.
3. Clarins Double Serum (Hydric + etc)
A quality serum makes all the difference to keeping skin hydrated when flying. Get a double banger with this gorgeous Clarins product. It’s definitely one of the best on the market.
4. Ella Bache Anti-Fatigue Moisturiser
Usually Ella Bache moisturisers are too heavy for my skin, but when I’m flying, all rules go out the window. Barrier is the key, not absorption. This moisturiser is protective and is just gorgeous and with its anti-fatigue properties it is perfect for long-haul flights and stressful transits.
5. Clarins Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm
Keeping lips hydrated is a challenge when flying. Though I am a loyal Aussie, PawPaw ointment is a poor choice for me because it has exfoliating properties which is great for creating soft lips but not good for stressed lips. There are actually some great products on the market but my favourite, Mecca, only does a lip balm that is soothing and moisturising in a jar, but you need a tube when flying so that you don’t have to touch your lips to apply it. This Clarins lip balm tube is the perfect compromise.
